SMHS Guidance Grades 6-8

Middle school students are characterized by rapid physical growth, curiosity about their world and an emerging self-identity. Guidance counselors work as part of a team with school staff, parents and the community to create a caring, supportive climate and atmosphere where young adolescents can achieve academic success.
School counseling programs are essential for students to achieve optimal personal growth, acquire positive social skills and values, set appropriate career goals and realize full academic potential to become productive, contributing members of the world community.

Middle School guidance counselors enhance the learning process and promote academic achievement through:

• Group Counseling
• Individual Counseling
• Peer Mediation
• Classroom Guidance
• Team/Parent Meetings
• MCAS Testing/Administration
• Career Planning/Exploration

If you have any questions or concerns about your child's academic program or progress, contact the guidance office at 508-764-5440 to schedule an appointment. You can also reach you child's counselor via email.
